If you never saw the movie, it's the one where John Rambo heads into Afghanistan during that country's war with Russia. There's one line earlier in the movie where it's mentioned that hardly anyone could find the country on the map. Well, after the events last year and what's going on right now; I don't think anyone in the US doesn't know where Afghanistan is. As for the movie itself, it opens with the famous stick fight and then basically goes downhill from there. The action isn't as fun to look at as in the previous movie, and it doesn't have the thoughtfulness that the original movie had.
Those discs featured slightly over saturated skin tones for my taste at least. Here the colors are much more natural across the board and all three movies look better than they ever have. The largest improvement is probably in First Blood where aside from some grain here and there, the new transfer really shows off the movie like never before, and the fiery explosions in First Blood Part 2 look so good you can almost feel the heat.
There are also full screen transfers for each flick, but you know better than to watch that. The Audio You have your choice of Dolby Digital 5. First Blood is a much quieter movie than the other two except the end, of course , but there are moments in First Blood Part 2 and Rambo III that will make you take notice.
I particularly enjoyed the waterfall sequence in First Blood Part 2 as the sounds of the multiple falls filled the room perfectly in both the Dolby Digital and DTS tracks. The Extras Each movie in this boxed set features its own unique commentary track. First Blood features my favorite of the three with writer David Morrell.
