Autocad osnaps turn off

My little bit of "wisdom": Hind-sight is useless, unless used to improve the next forethought! Thanks you guys! I am now the most popular girl in the office!

Not really but I did help some others also. The problem may be caused by a faulty AutoCAD installation or corruption of software resultant from a system crash. Resetting AutoCAD may resolve the issue. In some cases, AutoCAD may need to be uninstalled and reinstalled. The Extension Osnap enables you to snap to some point along the imaginary extension of a line, arc or polyline segment.

To use this osnap, you must hover the cursor over the end of the line you want to extend. The offset command in AutoCAD is used to create parallel lines, concentric circles, and parallel curves. We can offset any object through a point or at a specified distance. We can create as many parallel lines and curves with the help of the offset command.

Object snaps provide a way to specify precise locations on objects whenever you are prompted for a point within a command. For example, you can use object snaps to create a line from the center of a circle to the midpoint of another line.

Everytime I go to insert a block it turns my ObjectSnap off. When I turn snaps back on I get the dialog box and have to pick the snaps I want, but when I'm done inserting, all of my previously selected snaps return.

It's like it turns snaps off while in the command, then when you're done it resumes your session. I've been told to just shift right-click my way through it, but it adds several steps that are unneccesary and adds a lot of extra time to a project. If I use grid snaps, they stay active during the commands, but if I'm cleaning up someone elses drawing and they didn't use the grid, then I have to use the ObjectSnaps, and it just gets frustrating after a while.

I realize your post is from a year and a half ago, but if you found a fix since then I'd be interested to know what it is.

Osnap doesn't turn off, but it does this thing and unselects all the different modes and basically renders it useless until I manually re-select the osnap modes.

Any ideas?! It's really annoying. From what i have tested myself. If I import settings I will have this problem. However co workers of mine can import setting without issue. So I tried resetting my settings and only making a few changes, and then importing those.

I have thought about 1 by 1 testing out which of my shortcuts or other CUI changes is causing this, and I will when work is less busy probably never , but for now, it is just quicker for me to re-do all my CUI changes.

Waste of a day every-time we update, but saves me the hassle of the snap turning off. I had a similar problem for a long time, some commands would automatically turn off end snap, or turn on perp, etc. I just found it, and it seems to be working, not sure, I don't remember all the commands that would automatically change the snaps.

Looks like yet another feature in AutoCAD that is intended to save you time if you know about it, otherwise it just gets annoying. I could grab a grip and move or stretch something, but not "let go" of the grip with a click of the mouse or a press of the Enter button. I tried in two different drawings and had the same result. I checked various settings in the Options dialog box, but everything looked the same between the two files. If anyone knows why this is happening and how to fix it, please let us know.

Also, I came across this thread because my snaps F9 seem to randomly turn on and make life interesting. I can select things individually and add and remove from the selection that way but when I try to use the window selection in either direction it just won't work let me click to end my selection. This is the best solution. I had the same problem with Mechanical , and by resetting that Snap option to System Settings, everything worked again.

I can't find that setting anywhere in Architecture , though.
